The KPP Sponsorship Program has been going strong for the last 14 years. It carries 30 students from different schools of the town of Port-a-Piment. The students stay on the program from 1ere Année Fondamentale (1AF) to 9eme Année Fondamentale (9AF), which marks the end of the Primary School cycle in Haiti. This opens the door for the youngster to enroll in a Trade school or to continue his/her academic education to attend the university.
For the student, KPP pays the yearly tuition as well as school fees and canteen where available. The program provides all required books.
The sponsored children usually are from 5 to 14 years old. They come from very needy families and KPP gives priority to those who are doing well in school.
In Port-a-Piment, the program is overseen by Mrs. Paule Edline Orcel, an educator by career. She is responsible for selecting the sponsored students and she checks on their progress in school.
In the last 2 years and due to the difficulties of pursuing higher education in distant cities, KPP started a Sponsorship Program at the local Trade School. Ten (10 ) young men or women are now receiving training in different trades such as Masonry, Flooring or Carpentry, with increased hope for a brighter future.
Today, no less than 40 local families are benefiting from the KPP Sponsorship Program. But the number of students who have graduated from the program is over 100. KPP is proud that many of our graduates are now in early adulthood with a strong education and are able to earn a living.
