The KPP 2013 Annual Fundraising Gala took place this past Saturday, December 7th, in Sunrise, Florida. As in the previous years, KPP’s numerous friends and supporters reported promptly to the Ballroom of the Holiday Inn for an evening of fun, learning, and to renew with old friends and family members. It was truly a great place to be!
At the start of the evening, the guests enjoyed the displays of cheese, fruit, and crackers, while being serenaded by Mr. André Hérold François , the one-man band, who, with his saxophone, would entertain us the whole evening.
Mrs. Carolle Paul, Treasurer of KPP, opened the evening by greeting the guests, presenting the Board members, and introducing a very special guest and friend of KPP, Mr. Jean Saint-Vil of Ottawa, Canada.
Mr. Saint-Vil, also known as Jafrikayiti, is the host of several weekly radio programs; a commentator of Haitian affairs, an author, an artist and an activist. Jean Saint-Vil captivated his audience with a vivid and light hearted account of taking his family to visit Port-a-Piment in the summer of 2012. By the end of his speech, we were all longing to see Port-a-Piment soon again.
The President of KPP, Frantz Jean followed JAF on the podium. Frantz, also known as Milou, welcomed the guests, and thanked them for their support. Frantz gave us a recap of what KPP accomplished during this year, in the domains of education, health and business.
Frantz also recognized numerous KPP members for their extraordinary support during the year.
A delicious dinner was served, of salad, rolls, “banan peze and pikliz”, chicken, fish, rice and beans, and veggies, cheesecake, coffee and tea.
Mr. Hérold proved to be a serious DJ who made all, young and not so young, dance until the end of the evening.
We hope you enjoy these pictures, and share the memories with us, as KPP thanks all the sons, daughters, and friends of Port-a-Piment for their contributions and their unwavering support. Please click on this link:
