2024- The Year in Review

2024 presented significant challenges for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. National life came to a standstill in many regions, particularly in the Artibonite and West departments. Insecurity impacted the entire nation and halted numerous activities. Schools, hospitals, and homes were destroyed, and many people became refugees in their own country.

Yet, despite the recurring violence and interruptions of routine activities, people in parts of the country managed to maintain their way of life. Port-a-Piment stands out as a beacon of hope for a better future.

We are proud that KPP continued working with the populations we serve, and our programs are progressing at a highly satisfactory level. In 2024, Konbit Pou Potapiman made significant strides thanks to the invaluable support of our donors.

Educational Sponsorship:

  • KPP provided assistance to 30 families by covering their child’s tuition, fees, as well as  necessary school supplies.
  • KPP funded the training of 10 young adults in trades such as masonry, flooring, and carpentry, enhancing their employment opportunities.
  • KPP provided support to the community school of the village of Jabouin and its 53 students.

  • KPP organized a summer remedial program for 100 students to help them advance in their studies and be promoted to the next level.

  • In the school of Figuiers, KPP funded the repairs to a structure deemed unusable since the earthquake of 2021. Now, 40 children have a proper learning environment.

Animal Breeding Program:

  • During the last year, the KPP herd grew from 8 to 13 cows.
  • The Goat Program now benefits 28 families with valuable breeding stock.

Citizenship Program:  KPP partnered with the administration of the EFACAP of Port-a-Piment to engage students in activities that promote civic responsibility and community involvement.

KPP Children Library:

  • The library remained open to students during school days and on weekends.
  • KPP provided support to local groups for soccer tournaments and other cultural activities.

The Board of Directors and the members of Konbit Pou Potapiman take this opportunity to wish you a peaceful holiday season and a very Happy New Year.
