News from the KPP Animals Breeding Project

The KPP Animals Breeding project is moving forward. As reported previously, all ladies, heads of household in the villages of Dupin and Pinette are now recipent owners of goats or sheep. KPP monitors have reported that the program is progressing well and that the rain of the past months has not caused any casualities among the animals.

The villages of Saradas and Dolian have now entered the first phase of the project. From the 78 families identified to benefit from the project, 11 families from the village of Dolian and 14 from the village of Saradas are already recipients/ beneficiaries of Goats and sheep. Those animals were donated by beneficiaries in the villages of Dupin and Pinette respectively.

KPP monitors and the veterinary technician are now busy conducting meetings, providing information to ensure full compliance to the program by the new participants. On September 12th-16th, 2016, residents of the villages of Dolian and Saradas started to prepare their seedlings of Cashew Nut Apple tree (Pòm Kajou). Planting and maintenance of new trees is an integral requirement for participation in the KPP Animals Breeding Project.

Konbit Pou Potapiman Inc. is proud to announce that KPP-Haiti has once again been awarded  a grant of $3323.63 USD by One World Group Oxted of UK. This  fund will allow KPP-Haiti to purchase and distribute more goats/sheep and incorporate more families in the program.

The KPP Animals Breeding Project is based on a “Receive and Give” concept. For every animal received, the beneficiary will give back one offspring of the same age, which must be in good condition. The animal will be given to the qualified next in line recipient.

The  program also includes a mobilization campaign to increase awareness of environmental issues that affect the community and how the recipient families can positively impact their world.

Konbit Pou Potapiman is grateful to One World Group Oxted of UK for its financial support.
