Konbit Pou Potapiman (KPP) has as one of its goals, to implement a comprehensive Sports Program in the commune. We are making efforts to assist local associations and provide opportunities for young people to volunteer in the arena of sports.
Last July, KPP met with different members of the community to discuss the ways and means of reaching that goal. A meeting was held with a group of young men and women who belong to NOSH, (Nouvelle Orientation Sociale pour Haiti). Their agenda includes organizing soccer tournaments during the academic year. We seized the opportunity not only to welcome their initiative but to share KPP’s vision, as well as to distribute some sports equipment donated by Graphics Solutions Inc of New Jersey and BlayiKiltirel Inc. of Florida
KPP has gained comfort and understanding by sharing ideas, experiences and hope for the future. We agreed to use all sport activities to teach the value of effort and discipline. We agreed that sports must be used to teach core principles of tolerance, respect, team work and how to manage defeat and victory. We agreed to consider academic performance as a tool to motivate our youth to participate in sport activities.
KPP also plans to meet all school principals and teachers to seek their support as we will make every effort to involve the community especially students and parents.
We will need a lot of support both in sports and educational materials. KPP is committed to offer guidance and resources towards implementing the Sports program. We will keep you updated as to our progress.
